with this design, i made a baby pool poster, an iron-on onsie, a congratulatory card, and toothpick toppers, and i baked a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting & 36 different tea cupcakes in 4 tea flavors - Tazo Chai, Japanese 抹茶 green tea, milk tea & thai tea - with vanilla buttercream.
the green tea & thai tea cupcakes cool'n.
had lots of fun making all this since it was the first time in many yrs that i did any arts & crafts. i really loved how the baby pool poster came out with the scrapbook paper & construction paper contrasts & colors. you can't see the glitter on the toothpick toppers, but i used glitter glue to make 'em shimmer. =D
no one would ever guess that this is a red velvet cake with color'd cream cheese buttercream. LOL! this was my 2nd piping project, sure was tiring! luckily no hand cramps after all that squeeze & stop, squeeze & stop. the ears & horns are made of butter cookies. i free cut the shapes, baked them & stab'd them into the cake. got the idea from wilton's 3D giraffe cake. for the tray, i wrap'd 4 layers of cardboard (cut a box up) with wrapping paper & then in wax paper. very budget-friendly & creative idea! hehe.
tofupuppy looks so clueless. haha. just chill'n.
these cupcakes took me a l...o....n.....g..... time to frost! i couldn't find my BIG piping tip (it was in the fridge with my cinnamon cream cheese frosting for my chai cupcakes), so i had to use pipe tons of mini dots to make a big mound of frosting that i could've just done so quickly & easily with the big tip. they turn'd out cute & worth it though.
see the glitter? the eyes, nose, horns, mouth are shimmery.
i love this poster! the baby pool was for everyone to guess the soon-to-be-born baby's gender, birthdate, weight, length. On the day of the shower, Baby B's due date was 27 days away. today, it's 13 days away. can't wait to meet him/her. =D
